Set of 3 pre WWII Republic of Latvia orders and medals. Very rare pre WWII Latvian distinguished flying badge surmounted by the Latvian fire cross, or ugunskrusts, connected to a chain holding a hovering eagle. The Latvian Aviation Regiment was established in 1919 out of native Latvian pilots who were part of the Russian Imperial Air Force. Once a peace between Latvia and the Soviet Union was signed in 1920, the independent Latvian air forces continued until overrun by the Soviet Union at the start of the second world war. Latvian pilots continued to fly with the German Luftwaffe ex-patria, wearing Luftwaffe uniforms with a combination of German and Latvian pilot insignias. The Latvian Aviation Regiment (also referred to as the air division) was the primary military aviation force. Active members wore a distinguished flying badge surmounted by the Latvian fire cross, or ugunskrusts, connected to a chain holding a hovering eagle. The badge was in gold for officers, silver for NCO Also. Order of the Three Stars Triju Zvaigznu ordenis. Order of the Three Stars is the highest civilian order awarded for meritorious service to Latvia. It was established in 1924 in remembrance of the founding of Latvia. Its motto is “Per aspera ad astra”, meaning “Through hardships to the stars”. The Order has five ranks and three grades of medals of honour. Also medal of Independence. ORIG’L, RARE & VG Condition AC/AAF Type B-1/B-1A Flying Goggles Luxor No. These are an ORIGINAL and VERY RARE pair of the flying goggles often associated with the Army Air Corps in the 1920’s and early-WWII period. The goggles were manufactured by the E. B Meyrowitz Company of New York City and are so-labeled on the inside of the google strap and on the aluminum lens frames of the goggles. Meyrowitz designated these goggles as the No. 6 “Air Service Model”, while the Air Corps termed them the Type B-1 and B-1A. These goggles are discussed in Mick Prodger’s great reference work. At page 35 and pictured at page 151. The goggles are in VERY GOOD used condition. The two-piece face pads are in very good condition for their 90+ year age and are not brittle and still pliable and soft enough to be worn, if desired. The goggles come with an original aluminum “Luxor Airex” storage can (see image below), the so-called “coffin can”, which is in great condition. The can is well-marked on the lid (see image below). I’m a militaria collector like you and I do this as a sideline to my own collecting. Nonetheless, I’ll handle your order in a business-like and professional manner. Thanks for your business! Luger Holster GECO Commerical Rare Beautiful! . This exact holster is pictured at the bottom of the page 249 in the Jan Still book 3rd Reich Luger’s. At first glance the holster looks like a World War II police style model. On the top of the front flap is a steel stud and upper strap is sewn to the body which passes under a hold down strap below the stud. On the right side is a spare magazine pouch and on the rear are two standard belt loops on the underside of the top flap there is not a pouch for a Luger combination take down tool. There was never such a pouch sewn under this top flap when the pull up strap in the front side of the body is pulled out slightly, stamped into the leather just below the end piece is a small gecko stamping with the large G followed by eco within the G. This is the commercial mark for the firm of Gustav Genschow EG located in Berlin. They were a well-known firm, especially in the production of various calibers of bullets they also produced a variety of German holster models this holster is finished in a fine quality and high gloss black, much higher quality than the typical military or police holster. And all the stitching is done and black thread. Please look close at all pictures as they are a description of what you will receive. Please ask any questions.
