The blade itself is much older and is a koto period Samurai Katana that was remounted in the 1890’s for the current mounts. I have kept this sword in a long list of restoration projects but time and other projects force this one to go to someone else. It has a cutting edge length of just under 66cm, full length bohi engravings on both sides. It has awesome grain showing in the blade and it is in old great polish. The handle is complete but it is missing the locking latch on the side so the blade does not lock into the saya (scabbard). This would be an awesome restoration project and candidate for shinsa grading. The item “NICE LARGE JAPANESE KYUGUNTO ARMY OFFICER SWORD KOTO ERA BLADE” is in sale since Friday, March 03, 2017.
