ORIGINAL & VG+ Condition M1902 Officer’s Dress Saber & Scabbard w/ Provenance. This is an ORIGINAL example of the Model 1902 Officer’s Dress Sword/Saber and scabbard, as worn during dress uniform occasions. The saber was manufactured in Germany (see image of ricasso) and so I have placed its vintage between the World Wars. The saber is chromed and engraved with the Army coat-of-arms on the reverse surface and on the obverse has U. ” and the name of the officer “Edwin J. Saradakis engraved in the blank space provided there. The sword and nickel-plated scabbard are both in VERY GOOD+ condition and show no defects or scratches and only needs a good polishing. Best of all, the sword has a beautiful russet brown leather sword “knot” and lanyard to compliment its appearance. Here is a copy of an appraisal for this sword. Please look at picture closely and along with this appraisal form your own opinion and ask question if need be. Japanese tanto (or short sword/dagger). Overall 20″ with 16-12″ blade. Blade appears to have seen normal use and has been probably polished with no hamon(edge) evident. Tsuba appears to be of wrought iron/pierced and probably late 19th century. Tang may have been shortened along with blade which may have started as a wakazashi(shorter sword). Grip of rayskin wrapped in cord probably rehilted pre-WWII or just before. No markings evident on tang. When dealing with Japanese swords hands-on inspection by Japanese expert is essential, but from what we can see, this appears to be a good sword. Original Spanish WWII Blue Division. Pin with Eagle, Falange Insignia. Very beautiful with three enamel colors – red, black and white. 1 3/4″ long, 1 3/8″ wide. The all-volunteer’Blue Division’ was a formation of volunteers that allowed Franco’s technically neutral Spain to support Nazi Germany’s invasion of Russia. Following initial training in Germany, the Blue Division’s units were sent to the Eastern Front in August 1941, where the Division fought in several major battles including Leningrad. In 1943, with the tide turning against the Axis forces in Russia, the Division was ordered to be withdrawn, yet many men chose to stay on and serve with the Volunteer Legion. Even after the collapse in the East, some volunteered to serve with Waffen-SS units through to the fall of Berlin in 1945.
