This is a very nice example of a Japanese Cavalry Officer’s Sword, Type 19 complete with all of its Accoutrement which includes the Sword Hanger, Sword Tassel Knot and Lanyard. This Sword would have been in service all the way up to World War II and is mounted with a slightly curved, grooved, plated machine made blade that measures 30 7/8 inches in length. The blade remains in very nice original condition with just minor surface blemishes. The guard wears a very nicely detailed pommel which frames a lovely horn hilt that has also survived in very healthy condition and the backstrap features a lovely silver family mon. The beautiful, original black Sword Knot is present and remains very nice in its condition. The corded Lanyard is also present and shows only slight wear. The plated metal scabbard has some light flaking along with some “hand” wear where it was carried and a very slight bend near the tip, otherwise also remains in very good serviceable condition. Also present on the scabbard is the original leather Belt Sword Hanger that has survived in very healthy condition as well. Overall the Sword measures 38 1/8 inches in length. This is a good example of a Japanese Cavalry Officer’s Sword, Type 19 Field Grade which would have been in service all the way up to World War II. It is mounted with a plated machine made blade that measures 32 3/4 inches in length which reflects cleaning with old surface pitting scars and with most of the plating now gone. The Cavalry type guard is simple in design however wears a beautifully enhanced pommel and frames a very nicely stamped hilt that is very healthy in condition with the twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The metal scabbard is lightly dinged and has lost most of its plating nevertheless does remain in good serviceable condition. Overall measuring 39 1/4 inches in length. This is a very good example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword Late War Pattern. It is mounted with a machine made blade that measures 25 7/8 inches in length. The blade remains in good, healthy condition with no nicks and no bends but does have a few scratches and some minor surface staining. The tang is signed which translates to ” HIROMISTU ” and is dated “Showa jukyunen jugatsu (1944, October)”. All the fittings also remain in very nice condition as does the metal scabbard which has only a little scuffing near the carrying ring. Overall measuring 38 3/4 inches in length. This is a good example of a War Time Era Japanese Sword carried by an Army Officer during World War II. It is mounted with an ancestral, streamline KOTO blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 25 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived in nice condition with a lovely straight temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The blade has some scratches and surface blemishes as well as has a small parallel opening crack on the cutting edge near the tip. The tang wears two holes and shows to have been cleaned with fitted during the war. All the fittings remain very nice and clean in their condition. The leather combat covered wooden scabbard wears two carrying rings and remains in very nice serviceable condition. Overall, the Sword measures 37 1/2 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a short Japanese Army Officer Sword which dates from the Showa Era and is in Civilian Mount. It is mounted with a well-made arsenal blade that wears a cutting edge of 21 1/2 inches and from tip to tip it measures 29 1/8 inches in length. The blade boasts a lovely straight temper line which extends to the tip on both sides and remains in beautiful original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The tang wears a Showa stamp and is signed ” Fukumoto KANEMUNE “. It wears gorgeous matching menuki and simple but very nice fuchi kashira that all remain in very nice condition as well. This is an extraordinary example of a Named, one of a kind German Artillery Officer Sword that dates from the early 20th Century. It is mounted with a fabulously patterned, fullered blade that measures 31 5/8 inches in length which remains in very nice condition with only some minor surface staining. The impressive basket guard is embellished in a gorgeous cut out leafy design and adorned on the face with a medallion that features the name of the Officer ” Friedrich Vogt ” please Google for more information… Along with the motto “Treu und Wahr”. The exquisitely detailed basket guard remains in superb, original condition with 95% of its beautiful bright gold wash still present and frames a healthy fishskin wrapped hilt that is sturdy and continues to wear its twisted wire wrap tightly in place along with a portion of leather finger loop. The plated metal scabbard also wears lovely gold washed fittings and although has a few small dings to the base fitting, overall remains very nice in its condition as well. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Shin Gunto Sword carried by an Army Officer during World War II. It is mounted with an ancestral, streamline signed KOTO blade that wears a cutting edge of 26 3/4 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful polished condition with a very nice temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The tang wears one hole and although difficult to make out, possibly reads? All the nice quality fittings also remain very nice as does the metal scabbard which remains absolutely perfect in its condition. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful Seki blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 25 1/4 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful original condition with only very minor surface staining that could be cleaned up in the right hand and wears a large, lovely wavy temper line. The tang is signed with a signature that translates to “Ishihara KANENAO saku”. The lovely regulation fittings all remain extremely nice as well. The LIGHTWEIGHT textured wooden scabbard also remains near perfect in condition with just a couple of very small chips to the finish at the edge next to the carrying ring. This is a very nice example of a LATE War-Time Japanese Naval Officer’s Kai Gunto Sword. As World War II was coming to a close, the need of Swords for the Japanese Army still existed however, due to the lack of time as well as the shortage of materials, swords increasingly became more crudely assembled in the attempt to meet the urgent need. This particular Naval Officer’s Sword is mounted with a lovely Arsenal stainless steel blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 24 3/8 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition. The tang is hand painted with an assemble number which does MATCH all the other parts. The hurriedly finished tang has a tell tell notch at the habaki reflecting the urgency in the assembly of this Sword. The hilt and all the fittings do remain in wonderful original condition. The wooden scabbard wears a beautiful black samé covering as well as very nicely detailed fittings, all having survived beautifully in their condition. Overall measuring 36 7/8 inches in length.
