This helmet had been adopted by the army in 1932, see stamp CM1932 in the liner band (Centraal Magazijn, Central Warehouse). Original pre-WW2 shell, liner and chin strap (dark green color from production remains under the dark grey). In very good original condition, beautiful marks. In WW2 the old army helmets were used by various collaborating and civil organizations such as the civil defense. Most helmets used by the National Police after the war came from German war booty and often had their original interior. The helmet was painted in the Rijkpolitie’s dark grey (original paint) and a flaming grenade. Have a good look at the photos and please see my other ads as well. This Italian made type of helmet was ordered by the Greek government shortly before the Italian invasion of Greece. The consignment was never completed. The helmets were delivered without liner and without paint. The Greek liner must show a Greek cross surmounted by a crown and the size of the helmet (57 in this case) and the words’Greek Army’ in Greek alphabet. This helmet has a very smooth and complete original liner. The bowl is finished in the original paint. A beautiful helmet that belongs in every serious helmet collection. These KNIL-helmets were manufactured (post-1941, pre-1945) in USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) after the occupation of Holland by the Germans and was used against the Japanese in 1941.
