This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword that is mounted with a nice, Seki arsenal blade. The blade wears a cutting edge that measures 26 5/8 inches in length that features a lovely wavy temper line which extends to the tip on either side and has survived in very nice condition with only some very minor surface blemishes. The tang wears a seki stamp and is dated “Showa junana nen which translates to ” year 1942. The hilt wrapping is a bit tattered but does remain tightly in place and all the fittings also remain very nice and do include a desirable cross-hand sarute as well as a slightly faded but nice brown and blue tassel. The metal scabbard has a couple of small dings, nevertheless also remains in very good serviceable condition and wears beautiful fittings. Overall measuring 40 1/8 inches in length. This is a good example of a Japanese D-Guard Army Officer’s Kyu Gunto Sword. It is mounted with an ancestral blade that wears a cutting edge of 19 inches in length. The blade although is in need of a professional polish, does remain in good condition with just some minor openings but no cracks and no bends. The tang wears two holes and shows to have been shortened leaving only a portion of the signature Omidajo Fuji? The large D-guard remains in nice condition with some of the original gild still present and is enhanced with a silver family mon on the backstrap. The beautiful white rayskin covered hilt is a bit damaged near the peg hole, otherwise remains very healthy in its condition and a small portion of the original twisted wire wrap is still present. This is an example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a hand-forged blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 26 1/2 inches in length. The blade remains healthy with some minor surface blemishes and a few tiny nicks to the cutting edge, nevertheless is in nice condition and boasts a lovely large temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The well signed tang wears characters which translate to “BIZEN NAGAMITSU “. Although tight, the hilt is darkly stained however, all the fittings remain nice and the scabbard had some scuffing to the finish but does remain in good serviceable condition and has no dings. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Company Grade Kyu Gunto Sword, Type 19. It is mounted with a wonderful grooved blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 26 1/8 inches in length. The blade has survived in very nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The beautiful D-guard is very nicely detailed and frames a gorgeous hilt that is beautifully covered with healthy black polished sharkskin. Still present, is a very nice blue and brown tassel that came with the sword and remains in excellent condition as well. The plated metal scabbard has one small ding and has just a little minor flaking, nevertheless does remain in very good, serviceable condition. Overall measuring 35 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Shin Gunto Sword carried by an Army Officer during World War II. It is mounted with an ancestral, streamline signed KOTO blade that wears a cutting edge of 26 3/4 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful polished condition with a very nice temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The tang wears one hole and although difficult to make out, possibly reads? All the nice quality fittings also remain very nice as does the metal scabbard which remains absolutely perfect in its condition. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful Seki blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 25 1/4 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful original condition with only very minor surface staining that could be cleaned up in the right hand and wears a large, lovely wavy temper line. The tang is signed with a signature that translates to “Ishihara KANENAO saku”. The lovely regulation fittings all remain extremely nice as well. The LIGHTWEIGHT textured wooden scabbard also remains near perfect in condition with just a couple of very small chips to the finish at the edge next to the carrying ring. This is a very nice example of a LATE War-Time Japanese Naval Officer’s Kai Gunto Sword. As World War II was coming to a close, the need of Swords for the Japanese Army still existed however, due to the lack of time as well as the shortage of materials, swords increasingly became more crudely assembled in the attempt to meet the urgent need. This particular Naval Officer’s Sword is mounted with a lovely Arsenal stainless steel blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 24 3/8 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition. The tang is hand painted with an assemble number which does MATCH all the other parts. The hurriedly finished tang has a tell tell notch at the habaki reflecting the urgency in the assembly of this Sword. The hilt and all the fittings do remain in wonderful original condition. The wooden scabbard wears a beautiful black samé covering as well as very nicely detailed fittings, all having survived beautifully in their condition. Overall measuring 36 7/8 inches in length.
