Repainted and reused by Korps Rijkspolitie after the end of the war in 1945. This helmet had been adopted by the army in 1932, see stamp CM1932 in the liner band (Centraal Magazijn, Central Warehouse). Original pre-WW2 shell, liner and chin strap (dark green color from production remains under the dark grey). In very good original condition, beautiful marks. In WW2 the old army helmets were used by various collaborating and civil organizations such as the civil defense. Most helmets used by the National Police after the war came from German war booty and often had their original interior. Dutch model 38R helmet as used in the Netherlands in may 1940 against the German invaders. In really excellent condition. This helmet was manufactured in the Netherlands in the 1930’s. The original 1930’s olive green paint is underneath. The chinstrap is in full length and not cracked. Liner felt pads are grey in color from origin. The heraldic Lion sign of the Kingdom of The Netherlands is original and never taken off. All in all a wonderful addition to any helmet collection. See also my other advertisements. These KNIL-helmets were manufactured (post-1941, pre-1945) in USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) after the occupation of Holland by the Germans and was used against the Japanese in 1941. The helmet had been in use post-WW2 by the civil defense in the Netherlands. It still has its original KNIL liner, but one leather pad was replaced by a Dutch M27/38 type. The other 2 pads are missing the pouches to be filled for size adjustment. The chin strap is the M27/38 type (the KNIL chin strap was broader). So far all is original, the restoration consisted of adding a sun protection, refinishing in the original color, and refitting the original liner with new rivets. No Marks or signs. The original 1930’s olive green paint nealy 100%. The heraldic Lion sign of the Kingdom of The Netherlands is original and never taken off. The original liner was added recently with new rivets.
