This is a rare and seldom encountered Rumanian Naval Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a very nice slightly curved blade that measures 31 1/8 inches in length. The blade is beautifully etched on either side and remains in wonderful, original condition with just some minor surface blemishes and is well marked by the maker Carl Eickhorn Solingen on the ricasso. The guard wears an intricately detailed birdhead pommel with the accentuating detailing extending along the backstrap, and is wonderfully enhanced with a lovely floral motif that frames a roped anchor upon the face of the guard. The guard has also survived in beautiful condition and with much of the original gold wash still brightly present. The hard composite hilt remains very nice as well with the original twisted wire wrap tight and secure. The very attractive scabbard is dressed with beautifully coordinating fittings and although the leather finish is a bit scuffed, does remain in very nice serviceable condition. Such swords were produced only 130 units. Inscription: “Honor i Ojczyzna”. Sabre is in excellent condition, with the original scabbard. Perfectly preserved gilding (about 80%) on the hilt and scabbard fittings. Also nickel on the blade preserved very well. On the blade inscription: “Honor i Ojczyzna” and signature: G. In Polish museums I know of only two such sabers. One is in the Museum of the Polish Army (Muzeum Wojska Polskiego) in Warsaw. This is a good example of a Post War Police re-issue 1920 German Sword Model 1873. It is mounted with a massive, slightly curved blade that measures 29 3/4 inches in length which remains in very nice condition with only some minor surface stains and does remain in unsharpened condition. The blade is well marked on the ricasso, under the languet, by the maker “ALEX COPPEL SOLINGEN” as well as is dated “80” on the spine. The metal stirrup guard remains in good condition as well and frames a composite grip which remains very healthy and sturdy. This is a very nice example of a Large Variation of a Japanese Cavalry Officer’s Sword, Type 19 which would have been in service all the way up to World War II. It is mounted with a plated machine made large blade that measures 34 3/8 inches in length by 1 1/16 inches at the widest. The blade remains in nice condition with some minor surface blemishes. It wears a very nicely detailed pommel which frames a lovely horn hilt that although only a portion of the twisted wire remains, has survived in very healthy condition. The hilt also features a lovely floral motif and is accentuated with a beautiful silver family mon on the backstrap. The metal plated scabbard has some light flaking, particularly where it was hand carried, but does remain in very good serviceable condition. Overall measuring 42 5/8 inches in length.
