This is a very nice example of a French Cavalry Officer Sword, Model 1923. The straight blade measures 35 1/2 inches in length and remains in nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The lovely basket guard features beautiful floral designs and frames a healthy carved horn hilt that remains tight and sturdy and with its original twisted wire wrap still securely in place. This is a superb example of a Large Japanese High Ranking Naval Officer’s D-Guard Sword Pattern 1883. It is mounted with a grooved arsenal made blade which measures 26 1/2 inches in length that remains in very nice original condition. The fabulous gilded D-guard wears all of its original bright gold wash and frames a beautiful white samé covered hilt that has survived in very healthy condition and with its twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The lovely original red and cream Sword Knot remains very nice in its condition and is mounted upon a gold cloth cording that reflects only minor wear. The outstanding shagreen covered scabbard also remains in near mint condition and wears beautifully detailed coordinating fittings that continue to wear all of their bright gold wash as well. This is a wonderful example of a World War II Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer Sword mounted with an ancestral blade. The blade wears a cutting edge that measures 26 9/16 inches in length and remains very nice in its condition with just some minor surface blemishes and a few very tiny nicks to the cutting edge, nevertheless continues to wear a beautiful polish and boasts a gorgeous actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The blade also features a lovely horimono on either side. The tang wears two holes and is signed “Bizen No Kuni Osafune Sukesada Saku”. This Sword wears high quality Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts that also remain very nice condition in their condition as well as is accentuated with a pretty silver family Mon upon one of the menuki. The Regulation scabbard has also survived well with just some light scuffing to the beautiful lacquer finish however has no dings. Overall, the Sword measures 38 3/4 inches in length. Rare and seldom encountered to find in any condition, this is a nice example of a LIGHTWEIGHT Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 28 5/8 inches in length which remains in nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes and a bit of flaking to the plating one either side of the tip. The Shin Gunto style hilt has a bit of fraying to the wrap on one side nevertheless remains tight and sturdy. The metal scabbard also remains in good condition with only wear near the carrying ring where it was hand handled. The original tassel is lightly faded but in nice condition nonetheless. This is a good example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Sword Belt which dates from the World War II Era. It is constructed of dark leather with lighter blue felt backing and fitted with a lovely detailed brass buckle. The leather reflects good honest wear but does remain healthy and the felt backing has some minor wear, nevertheless remains in very good condition as well. The brass buckle features the rising sun and has now beautifully patined with age. Still present, is a variation sword hanger strap that also remains very healthy in condition. This lovely Japanese Naval Officer’s Sword Belt dates from the World War II Era and has survived in nice condition. It is constructed of black leather with gilded brass fittings. The leather is accentuated with pretty bullion type cloth strips and although reflects wear, does remain in nice serviceable condition. The Buckle face wears a beautiful Emblem featuring a silver cherry blossom and silver anchor and remains exceptionally nice with all of the bright gold wash still present. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made grooved blade that measures 8 3/8 inches in length which remains in very nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes. It wears lovely decorative fittings which include a wonderfully detailed high relief “sakura” pommel all framing an attractive “samé” covered hilt that remains very healthy and tight.
