This is a very nice example of a Japanese Naval Officer’s Kai Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 23 3/16 inches in length. The blade has survived in very nice condition with only some minor surface blemishes and boasts a fabulously active wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The tang is signed which translates to “TANIGAWA ISSHIN “. The hilt and all the fittings also remain very nice, healthy and clean in their condition. The scabbard wears a beautiful shagreen covering that although reflects surface wear, does remain healthy. The scabbard is also mounted with pretty detailed fittings which continue to wear traces of their original gold wash. Overall measuring 38 1/2 inches in length. This is a nice example of a highly sought after, rare and seldom encountered Japanese Naval Prison and Shore Patrol Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that measures 21 1/2 inches in length which remains nice in its condition with only light staining with a few small blemishes. The very nice guard is accentuated with an engraved anchor on the backstrap and frames a healthy leather wrapped hilt that still wears its original twisted wire wrap securely in place. The metal scabbard is also adorned with an engraved anchor at the base and remains very nice as well with no dings and only minor flaking to its plating. Overall measuring 30 7/8 inches in length. This is a superb example of a Large Japanese High Ranking Naval Officer’s D-Guard Sword Pattern 1883. It is mounted with a grooved arsenal made blade which measures 26 1/2 inches in length that remains in very nice original condition. The fabulous gilded D-guard wears all of its original bright gold wash and frames a beautiful white samé covered hilt that has survived in very healthy condition and with its twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The lovely original red and cream Sword Knot remains very nice in its condition and is mounted upon a gold cloth cording that reflects only minor wear. The outstanding shagreen covered scabbard also remains in near mint condition and wears beautifully detailed coordinating fittings that continue to wear all of their bright gold wash as well. This is a wonderful example of a World War II Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer Sword mounted with an ancestral blade. The blade wears a cutting edge that measures 26 9/16 inches in length and remains very nice in its condition with just some minor surface blemishes and a few very tiny nicks to the cutting edge, nevertheless continues to wear a beautiful polish and boasts a gorgeous actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The blade also features a lovely horimono on either side. The tang wears two holes and is signed “Bizen No Kuni Osafune Sukesada Saku”. This Sword wears high quality Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts that also remain very nice condition in their condition as well as is accentuated with a pretty silver family Mon upon one of the menuki. The Regulation scabbard has also survived well with just some light scuffing to the beautiful lacquer finish however has no dings. Overall, the Sword measures 38 3/4 inches in length. Rare and seldom encountered to find in any condition, this is a nice example of a LIGHTWEIGHT Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 28 5/8 inches in length which remains in nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes and a bit of flaking to the plating one either side of the tip. The Shin Gunto style hilt has a bit of fraying to the wrap on one side nevertheless remains tight and sturdy. The metal scabbard also remains in good condition with only wear near the carrying ring where it was hand handled. The original tassel is lightly faded but in nice condition nonetheless. This is a good example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Sword Belt which dates from the World War II Era. It is constructed of dark leather with lighter blue felt backing and fitted with a lovely detailed brass buckle. The leather reflects good honest wear but does remain healthy and the felt backing has some minor wear, nevertheless remains in very good condition as well. The brass buckle features the rising sun and has now beautifully patined with age. Still present, is a variation sword hanger strap that also remains very healthy in condition. This lovely Japanese Naval Officer’s Sword Belt dates from the World War II Era and has survived in nice condition. It is constructed of black leather with gilded brass fittings. The leather is accentuated with pretty bullion type cloth strips and although reflects wear, does remain in nice serviceable condition. The Buckle face wears a beautiful Emblem featuring a silver cherry blossom and silver anchor and remains exceptionally nice with all of the bright gold wash still present.
