POLAND, KINGDOM, ORDER OF BENE MERENTIUBS MEDAL, (GOOD WORKS) or (THOSE WHO DESERVE) MEDAL, COIN, 1748, silver, extremely rare. Established by King August III as an equal to the Order of the White Eagle. While the White Eagle was awarded to individuals, the Merentibus was awarded mainly to all public and private organizations and its leaders. Which made an outstanding contribution to the Kingdom during a given year. This tradition is still alive today by some organizations. Made in sterling silver by the court jeweler and has his hallmark. It is about 50mm in diameter and weights 2 ounces. It is housed in a fitted round black case. Extremely rare historical item.
