Today Id like to offer up a dagger that Has been with my family many years.. Hate to see it go but in the more recent years my collection has leaned more towards an older time period. Original Sa dagger in pristine condition. Pant rates in at around 98% with just a few scrapes here and there. Moto and maker mark are excellent. Cross grain is visible , and has never been shortened or re tipped. Handle is flawless and looks factory new as is the sa roundle and other inset. Fittings are the typical rzm style and have only minor wear with no lifting to the nickel plate. Screws are all there and remain unturned! These were brought back from the war by my grandfather. He pasted them onto my grandmother after his death. He died before I was born so I could never had heard the exact story on how he got them. My grandmother had left them to me after her death. From what my grandmother told me that my grandfather got them after the Germans surrendered, his troops raided a armory. So these were never in service. My grandmother took excellent care of them. Once again they have been in my family for many years and will not take low offers because these are in great shape from what I have seen out there. There is no rust on them or gouges in the wood handles or metal blades. So the German bayonet was a standard issue from what I have learned. The bayonet and sheath have matching numbers as you can see in the photo. The German SA dagger was manufactured by The Ed Wusthof of Solingen. I could not find many daggers of this manufacturers for sale so I think they are rare. But the history of Ed Wusthof company is they were founded in Solingen Germany in 1814. They still make knives today and I believe they have manufacturing in The USA. So once again this dagger is in great shape. The sheath’s paint is a little bubbly looking but that is normal because of age. I have seen others like that, once the again it is around 80 years old. The blade is etched, “Alles fr Deutschland”, or “All for Germany “. And the leather belt clip is in good shape other than it needs the 2 stitches replaced that holds two ends of the leather connected together, but that can be easily fixed. WW2 German Youth Dagger made by rare maker Grawiso of Solingen. This early youth knife has a steel based hilt. Excellent nickel plating at 90+% on the pommel & nearly 100% on the crossguard & backstrap pieces. Has pre-1936, close checkered, Bakelite grips in perfect condition. The grips are retained by nickel rivets with dressed heads on the obverse. The youth insignia is nicely set & wiggles slightly as it should. The insignia enamels have perfect red, white & gold areas as well as the black of the national symbol. The scabbard is straight w/original black paint showing some age and rates about 90%. The leather belt loop & strap are constructed of supple uncommon brown leather w/a working snap. The blade is extremely nice & has not been sharpened w/some minor spotting. The “Blut und Ehre” (Blood and Honor) engraving is uncommonly clear and undamaged. The original leather blade buffer is in place. There is no RZM mark which indicates the knife was produced before 1935 NOTES; These knives were carried by young boys where knife care was a low priority.
