This is a very nice example of a Large Japanese Army Officer’s Sword, Type 19 and would have been in service all the way up to World War II. The impressively large blade measures 32 3/4 inches in length by 1 1/4 inches at the widest and remains in superb original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The brass hilt wears a beautifully detailed pommel with a lovely pierced work guard and is mounted with a large beefy carved horn grip that also remains very healthy and with its twisted wire wrap still tightly intact. The large plated scabbard remains very nice in its condition as well with no dings and only a small bit of minor flaking. Overall measuring 40 inches in length. This is a rare US Navy grouping for a man who was stationed on the USS NARWHAL at Pearl Harbor on Dec. See pictures 10 and 11. The group consists of his frock coat, evening dress coat, trousers with braid, and his Midshipman tunic. All are in very nice condition with only one button missing from the tunic. The fore and aft hat, epaulettes, and gold belt are in a tin box with his initials painted on top. All are in excellent condition except for the box. It is dented with paint missing and the lock is off but included. The sword is in fine condition with the scabbard showing only very minor flaking. The leather case is in good condition but is missing part of the strap to buckle it closed and some mild mothing to the liner. Scabbard is engraved with his initials and the leather case also has his initials. Interestingly his last name is misspelled on the blade, an “A” is missing. Also included is his 1931 Academy yearbook, silver anniversary yearbook, and thirty first anniversary yearbook. The papers that are included are all copies except his retirement paper. Also included is a second sword belt, a medal and a comb with missing teeth in a leather pouch which also has a rusting file. I think this is the highlight of the whole group. The USS Narwhal is credited with shooting down a Japanese Zero (along with a destroyer) which is the first submarine kill of the war. This group is from the officer who claims he shot it down. This is a rare Pearl Harbor AND submarine related group. I just noticed that in the picture of the yearbooks there is a small book titled The Silver Quiver, it does not go with this group. The crate has been in my attic for over 25 years and is under a large pile of stuff. No sense in digging it out until or if the group sells. The price listed may be lower if you live on the East Coast. It will take me a few days to dig out the crate and pack everything safely so please be patient. If you live in the area you can pick it up. The item “RARE US NAVY PRE WW2 FORMAL UNIFORM GROUP PEARL HARBOR SUBMARINES” is in sale since Monday, July 17, 2017. This is a very nice example of a World War II Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer Sword mounted with an ancestral blade. The very fine antique Shinto, unsigned blade wears a cutting edge of 27 1/4 inches in length. This quality made blade has survived in very healthy condition, continuing to wear its beautiful polish and does wear a visibly large actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The Sword also wears nice quality Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts which all remain very nice as well. The lightweight aluminum Regulation scabbard also remains very nice in its condition and with just a little light scuffing to the finish. Overall, the Sword measures 40 5/8 inches in length. This is an example of a Japanese / Taiwan Colonial Sword that would have been carried by Japanese Officials assigned to the Colonial Administration of Taiwan. The plain guard remains very nice and in tight, sturdy condition. The guard frames a beautiful black samé covered hilt with its original twisted wire wrap still nicely in place. The smooth black lacquered scabbard is a bit scuffed but does remain in very good serviceable condition as well as wears equally beautiful coordinating fittings. This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era and is mounted with a blade by Kanenaga who was known for his fine, well made stainless steel blades. This lovely blade wears a cutting edge that measures 25 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful original condition with only some very minor surface scratches and a couple of very tiny nicks along the cutting edge. The tang is signed with a signature that translates to Fujiwara Kanenaga Motte? Seitan saku kore and on the other side? Tasugi Shinichi (most likely the name for whom it was made). Kanenaga is also known as the originator of stainless steel blades. The beautiful nice quality Military fittings all remain in very nice, clean condition as well. The LIGHTWEIGHT textured wooden scabbard also remains near perfect in its condition with just a couple of very tiny chips to the finish. Overall measuring 39 inches in length. NOS – 1903 Springfield National Match C Stock. This is NOT a common WWII Era Replacement C stock made by Keystone, this is an original Springfield Production National Match D1836 drawing number C Stock that was never used by the Government on a rifle. The stock came with the correct National Match heavy checkered buttplate and blued finish lower swivel in place. There are a few small scuffs of paint where it leaned against a wall, chair, or closet. The cutoff cutout is clearly marked “S” and “9”, the underside of the handguard is marked “8”. The handguard has more scratches and scuffs but appears to also be NOS and unused by the military. Since this stock was never issued, it does not have a serial number stamped forward of the drawing number, there is no Proof stamp on the grip, and no cartouche. This is not a sanded or refinished stock, it is as close to new as you will ever find. This stock would also be correct on an original M1941 sniper. An excellent opportunity for a proper restoration of an original late National Match rifle or M1941. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns as I sell everything with no return. I’m a private individual and clearing out my stuff since I don’t collect anymore. The item “NOS 1903 Springfield NM D1836 C Stock Sniper National Match” is in sale since Wednesday, July 12, 2017.
