Rare 1925 Army Air Force Military Officers 9K Gold Trench Watch with Grill Guard
Maker– Herald marked on the mainspring winding wheel as pictured. Case Material– 9K Solid Gold. Case Color– Pinkish Yellow. Functions are also checked-date -day-timers functions etc. Any function problems that we find at the time will be noted or corrected. Watch cases are sanitized by steam and ultrasonic cleaning methods so that the new owner won’t have the previous owners dirt and grime to deal with. If for some reason the case can’t be cleaned we will note that. Dial Condition– Nice original porcelain dial with new luminous added. Hands are also original with new luminous. Original domed glass crystal. Case Condition–Ok used with wear around the bezel edge with at some time in the past was repaired. Looks to have used silver solder as the repair lines look silverish in color. The grill guard is not original to this watch but with the guard attached you don’t see the bezel edge imperfections. Some tarnish spots on the case back as pictured. Case Size– 37mm Lug End to End , 33mm Across the case not including the Crown. Special Features — case back with two covers – inside dust cover is engraved A. Watch case is well hallmarked as pictured. Grill guard is Gold Plated Sterling. We greatly will appreciate it. One was from a Jewelry store that closed in the 1970’s and had been a jeweler and watch repair person in business in Southern California for approx. 40 to 50 years. The other collection is from a long time collector and repair person from Northern California. Please be advised that we have no service record of any of the watches from these estates and that cleaning , oiling and general servicing is recommended and more than likely required. Please be advised that any watch with a screw back will not be tightened completely and a new or replacement gasket will be needed. Any snap back type will be closed but a gasket will also be needed. These tasks will need to be done by the customer. These are estate items and are being offered in as-found condition. That would for instance be we state something is 14K gold and is only Gold plated, we state that something is 12″ long and it is only 8″ etc. We use 95% of the time all new materials-Styrofoam Peanuts, Bubble Wrap, Boxes etc-NO padded mailers are used! .
