This sale is for a rare vintage U. Army M-1904 leather saddle scabbard. The scabbard was produced under military contract by the Lawrence Co. Portland, Oregon, on or near 1917 – 1918. The scabbard was produced to accommodate the Army M-1903 Springfield rifle. The scabbard has the “LAWRENCE” mark and also S. Which could be the inspectors initials. This leather scabbard does not have the two tie down straps or belts. The condition of this scabbard is very good. All of the stitching is tight and complete, the brass rivets and copper washers are also tight and in good condition. The hole at the bottom of the scabbard still contains the brass grommet. This is a vintage US Army McClellan Artillery saddle. The saddle says it is an 12 inch, it is missing a stirrup and a few straps. The underside is very worn, but overall it is still a great saddle. All our items come from estate sales, yard sales, flea markets or places that we have traveled. All Japanese items come directly from Japan. WWI-WWII Military Original Cavalry officer sword/sable frog, stamped, and made from saddle leather. Cavalry sword was carried in a hanger attached to horse saddle, but since cavalry sword also belonged to dress uniform of cavalry soldier, they also needed to be carried attached to soldiers belt when needed Can be used for carrying sword attached to belt. One of the straps is a little ripped….. Please see the last picture. A remarkably well preserved piece of WWI / WWII saddlery here, one that I’m sure that would be of interest to cavalry enthusiasts. Vintage Swiss Army pack mule saddle, used but in excellent condition. A great find, these are complete and fully functional, with a steel frame to support a large amount of weight, and thick, full grain rugged leather shell over a canvas padded lining. All canvas and leather tie down strapping included, as well as the belly band and attachment straps. The side frames and top frame are removable. The pads measure 21″x17″x2, each side frame measures approx. 28″x24″, and the total width of side frame to side frame is 51. Great guide/outfitter pack frame made of quality leather and steel….. This is a vintage US Army McClellan Cavalry saddle and blanket. The saddle says it is an 11 inch and the leather on the stirrups is marked “US” other then that those are the only marks I see. The wood on the stirrups is cracked and the leather skirt and stirrup straps look to have been replaced, other then that the saddle is in great condition. The blanket is blue with a gold star, it has moth damage or some type of bug damage to the material. Overall both still display great. Original Model 1936 phillips cavalry saddle. Saddle is in very good condition. Inner flap is marked J. Underside is not wore out or dry as are most. A LATE ISSUE ORIGINAL US CAVALRY SADDLE CLOTH FOR A TROOPER IN “I” TROOP OF THE 4th CAVALRY. IT HAS A YELLOW LEATHER NUMBER “4” AND THE LETTER “I” IN THE CORNER. THEY WERE GLUED IN PLACE PERHAPS DURING THE PERIOD OF USE OR BY A MORE RECENT COLLECTOR OR REENACTOR. THE LETTERS ARE WELL MADE AND ARE 1 AND 3/4 INCH HIGH. THEY SEEM TO HAVE BEEN THERE FOR A LONG TIME. ON THE INSIDE THERE IS A VERY WELL PRESERVED WHITE PAINT SET OF CROSS SWORDS WITH THE “4” AND “I” BELOW AS WELL AS A TROOPER NUMBER. ONE CAN SEE THE SEWING HOLES OF THE ORIGINAL “4” AND “I” IN THE CLOTH. THERE IS NO OTHER ISSUE OR MANUFACTURE MARKING THAT I COULD FIND. THE HEAVY WEB CANVAS CLOTH IS DIRTY ON THE OUTSIDE FROM FIELD USE. IT SHOWS A LOT OF GREENISH COLOR SOILING AND I DO NOT KNOW IF IT COULD BE CLEANED. MINOR FRAYING ON THE EDGE, PARTICULARLY WHERE THE STIRRUP STRAPS RUBBED THE CLOTH. THE STITCHING IS SOLID. THIS SADDLE CLOTH LOOKS GREAT WITH A 1928 McCLELLAN SADDLE WITH FULL SKIRT AS IT HIDES MUCH OF THE SOILING. THE INSIDE IS FAIRLY CLEAN AS IT WAS PROTECTED BY THE SADDLE WOOL BLANKET BUT CLEARLY THIS CLOTH WAS USED IN THE FIELD. THE CLOTH MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 21 x 31 INCH AT THE WIDEST POINT. NOTE THAT THE SADDLE STAND AND OTHER PROP SHOWN IN THE PICTURES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING. THIS LISTING IS ONLY FOR THE SADDLE CLOTH DESCRIBED ABOVE. These are M1904 U. Cavalry Saddle Bags produced by Long in 1917. They were MODIFIED for use with the modified McClellan saddle in the late 1920’s and used to the end of the cavalry in WWII. The bags had been modified by the addition of an external pocket on the outside of the bag which can be seen under the closed flap. Bags are complete with liners and two condiment bags.
