Up for sale is a US Army Model 1936 Phillips Officer Cavalry Saddle. Condition is Very nice used condition. This saddle has been well taken care of. Leather soft and supple. Tree is good – no flex. Measurements:Seat 18, Gullet width 7. Channel width 3 in center 2 1/2 under cantle. C ouple things to mention given its age. First small flaw in the leather in the channel under the cantle (see pic). Does not affect anything but its there. Second would be a small split in the welting on the front of the saddle on the off side. Again, cosmetic and does not affect anything. T he saddle includes irons and leathers, but stirrups are vintage sterling English ones not the offset RIA issued ones. Leathers could original but they have no arsenal markings. It is missing the QM Depit brass plate but its data still partially embossed on the leather. Overall a very nice saddle. Very comfortable and was designed to ridden in a forward seat position. Seat is original hog hide with the rest original genuine leather. Billets very good but no girth provided. Overall a very nice collectible to ride and enjoy or for display. A Very Unique Mannlicher Carbine Model 95 NCO Bayonet. The NCO Bayonet has the ring hole in the steel handle – much rarer Bayonet Type – see pictures # 5 and #6. This is a rare and very desirable marked M95 Manlicher Bayonet Set from my personal collection. The blade has the CEWG code on the Blade – Picture # 3 – on the other side is the Double Headed Imperial Eagle – picture # 4 – Scabbard has Imperial Double headed Eagle on the Metal tad and CEWG Code. Of the side- -see picture #3. This Bayonet is a very desirable and hard to find Historic Collectable- , but with the unusual marks AND BEING AN NCO MODEL – it puts it in a class by itself – it is much more desirable. IT IS MATCHING BY CODE CEWG AND DOUBLE HEADED EAGLE. Faint eagle marking on bayonet frog and CEWG ON Blade. Research could really pay off on this Bayonet Set. Scabbard has typical dents and scratches of a Genuine Bayonet set that is is over 100 years old and been through two wars – judge by your standards. I think you will appreciate this Bayonet Set. These bayonets and scabbards were re-conditoned prior to WWII for the German and Austrian Armies using M95 Mannlicher Carbines as substitute Standard. The metal frog hook on the metal scabbards were re-inforced. By brass brazing at the arsenal and then simply painted over the braze with black paint – usually after all their use some of the brass is showing – I prefer to leave orginal, but it would be easy for owners to spot paint again. The Rifles and Bayonets were substitute standard for German Army support troops during WWII and also issued to German Military Police. Note: The blade has not been sharpened since leaving the Gov’t Arsenal. Bayonet buttons for attaching to rifles are always checked and work fine!
