This is a numbered M. 5372 Second Nicaraguan Campaign medal. It has the original split wrapped, barrel locking clasp brooch and original ribbon. The ribbon does show fading but still hangs strong from the brooch. The planchet has a pleasing chocolate brown patina, and is numbered M. The planchet edge is also officially engraved A. MILWAUKEE , and there are no edge knocks. This specific medal was awarded and issued to Lieutenant Commander (LtCom) Adelbert William Dutcher. Dutcher was born at Sodus Point, NY, on July 21, 1909. He first joined the United States Navy on March 7, 1927, and was assigned to the USS Milwaukee. On December 10, 1931, he was awarded this medal, and received it while stationed aboard the USS Vestal. He was also awarded the Good Conduct medal dated 1930, the Good Conduct reenlistment pin dated 1934 and another Good Conduct reenlistement pin dated 1938. He continued on with his naval career and eventually retired as a Lt. Commander, in July, 1956. He died at Garden Grove, California on May 10, 1986, and his ashes were spread at sea.
