Rare and seldom encountered to find in any condition, this is a very nice example of a LIGHTWEIGHT Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 30 3/8 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The Shin Gunto style hilt has some light staining nevertheless remains tight and sturdy. The metal scabbard also remains very nice, however is missing the base fitting which could be replaced in the right hands. Overall measuring 39 1/4 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Officer Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful hand-forged blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 27 inches in length. The blade remains in very nice original condition with a lovely actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The tang wears two holes and is unsigned however, there are a couple of light hand scratched characters that were added in recent years that could easily be removed. All the fittings have also survived in very nice, clean condition. The metal scabbard also remains in very nice condition. Overall measuring 40 1/2 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a World War II Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer Sword mounted with a large and hefty grooved, hand-forged blade. This very fine Shin Shinto, unsigned blade wears a cutting edge of 27 1/2 inches in length and from tip to tip it measures 36 1/8 inches. The grooved blade wears a visibly beautiful actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side and remains in very nice condition with only some very minor surface pitting spots on the cutting edge that could be remedied in the right hands. The Sword wears high quality Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts which also remain in very nice, clean condition. The Regulation metal scabbard remains in superb condition as well. It is mounted with a lovely machine made blade that measures 33 1/4 inches in length which has survived in very nice original condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The outstanding guard wears an intricately detailed backstrap which includes sakura blossoms and frames very healthy carved horn hilt with its twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. This well made Spanish Artillery Officer Sword, Model 1862 was manufactured by the “FABRICA DE TOLEDO ARTILLERIA” and dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a slightly curved blade that measures 30 5/8 inches in length which remains in superb, original condition. The lovely gilded brass hilt is adorned with a nicely detailed high-relief design of crossed cannons with a crown upon the face of the guard and frames a beautiful fishskin wrapped hilt with the twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era and is mounted with a blade by Kanenaga who was known for his fine, well made stainless steel blades. This lovely blade wears a cutting edge that measures 25 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived in beautiful original condition with only some very minor surface scratches and a couple of very tiny nicks along the cutting edge. The tang is signed with a signature that translates to Fujiwara Kanenaga Motte? Seitan saku kore and on the other side? Tasugi Shinichi (most likely the name for whom it was made). Kanenaga is also known as the originator of stainless steel blades. The beautiful nice quality Military fittings all remain in very nice, clean condition as well. The LIGHTWEIGHT textured wooden scabbard also remains near perfect in its condition with just a couple of very tiny chips to the finish. Overall measuring 39 inches in length. This is an outstanding example of a War-Time Historically Recorded Battlefield Pick-Up World War II Japanese Army Officer Sword mounted with an ancestral blade. The old antique Wakizashi blade wears a cutting edge of 20 3/8 inches in length. The blade does wear a visibly wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side however reflects cleanings from recent years and has a couple of nicks to the cutting edge, otherwise does remain in good condition. The tang wears one hole and is signed “Bishu Ju San Shiro”. The Sword wears Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts which all remain in very nice however there is a small glued repair to the wrapping. The Regulation scabbard remains very nice in its condition and is wonderfully hand painted with the recording of one of the hill battles of Iwo Jima along with the date March 26, 1945 and the name of the GI that brought it home. This is an example of a Japanese Army Dress Parade Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a machine made blade that measures 27 1/8 inches in length. The blade has some flaking to the plating nevertheless remains in good condition. The wonderfully detailed guard remains in good tight condition and wears a silver family mon on the backstrap. The horn hilt has survived in very healthy condition and with all of its twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The nickel plated scabbard is heavily flaked with light rust but does remain in good serviceable condition. Overall measuring 33 5/8 inches in length.
