Madrid, Guernica, Bilbao, Barcelona, international brigades. The Eibar helmet is named for the Basque city where they were manufactured. Its officially known as the Model 1934 (some say M38 as well). This is one of the harder to find helmets from the Spanish Civil War. The model was widely used in the Spanish Civil war by both parties. The front has an attachment for the badge, meaning it was used by the troops of general Franco. It has a nice chinstrap and smooth original color. See pictures for more details. It was the first helmet made by the Arsenal of the Artillery in Trubia to be submitted in 1926 for examination for its adoption. Only 12.000 helmets were produced, made with Röchling steel 1.1 mm thick, but the type was never adopted. In comparison: the Austrian Berndorf helmet had a production of 140.000!!!! Outside the helmet has been repainted in this original colour. Inside you find the Original color as well, but overpainted with dark red for a big part. A W ONDERFUL addition to any collection!! The consignment was never completed. The helmets were delivered without liner and without paint. This example measures nly 0,7 kilogrammes!!! This helmet has a complete original liner. This is a rare variant on the Dutch M38 (KNIL type) combat helmet. While all the M27-34-38 had a rolled edge, this example has a sharp edge. These helmets were made by Verblifa (Vereenigde Blik Fabrieken) after the German occupation of the Netherlands in 1940. The sharp brim made the production cheaper. The chin strap and liner are Original M34. Pads are original and in very good condition. The helmets were issued to police, civil defence and luftschuss units and could be bought privately as well. Nowadays very few examples in this Sharp-brimmed style are known. These helmets never had the bronze lion badge on the front. Notice the absence of the neck protection and adjustion strap in the rear of the liner, another specialty of this helmet. A wonderful survivor, rarely seen in this condition.
