Dated on top July 1932. Cannon is entitled “Loud Lucy” on the side plates. Measures 7.5″ long by 3″ tall. Truly a keystone piece of any Trench Art collection. It looks like a Gendarmerie helmet with a fireman’s crest. In these days, the French were searching for a new helmet, replacing the old cavalry helmets. Original liner, original scaled chin strap. Marine in dress blues. Overall size 2.5″ x 1.5″, c. 1920’s to 1930’s, with a small image of a Marine in dress uniform at left and enamel Haitian crest at right. Good looking Marine wears two Army style shooting medal badges, as authorized for the Corps in the’30’s. Also has a Gun Pointer cloth patch on is lower left sleeve and gilt Marine Corps emblems. Reverse of the frame is marked “Made in England”. An interesting home front or sweetheart item from the Banana Wars. I have never seen another like this one.
