Very Nice Japanese Army Officer Shin Gunto Sword
This is a very nice example of a Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer’s Sword that is mounted with a nice, Seki arsenal blade. The blade has survived in near perfect condition and wears a cutting edge that measures 27 1/8 inches in length that features a lovely actively wavy temper line which extends to the tip on either side. The tang wears a showa stamp and is well signed which translates to “Sekiju Mori Toshiharu Sakku”. The hilt wrapping reflects age with light staining nevertheless does remain tightly in place and all the fittings also remain very nice in their condition. The metal scabbard has a couple of small battle dings, but does remain in very good serviceable condition and wears beautiful fittings as well. Overall measuring 40 inches in length.
