British Lancers Helmet Czapska
12th British Lancers Helmet, Czapska. This is an other ranks Czapska in original condition. The glossed leather has the scuff marks, and surface cracks as typical for an oritinal piece. The plume is original red horse hair. The soft leather liner of the the curb chain needs to be re- stitched to the metal links in places. The front plate bears the Edwardian Crown, and battle honors through the 2nd Boer War. All in all a very nice piece belonging to a storied and glorious regiment. Formed in 1715 as Light Dragoons, they took the fashion and title of Lancers following the Battle of Waterloo. This is a fine example of one of the most intricate, and magnificent headdresses adopted by the British Military. Final price reduction before removal.
