Vtg 1940’s Ta.pat.co Life Jacket Boat Preserver WWII Kapok Filled Life-Save Vest
In good vintage condition. Tags in tact and readable with the exception of size. I would guess that they would be a small -medium. Not an expert though, simply rough guess. Not recommended for actual use. Preserver (as stated on tag) is filled with Japan kapok with is similar to cotton yet much lighter in weight. Made in USA- American Pad and textile company. Neck to waist on both approximately 24. Armpit to waist 14-15. Length along front waist when tied to smallest fitting is 17-18. Has some discoloration/staining normal to age and wear and tear/usage. Stitching in great condition. No holes, rips or tears noted. Rare find in great antique/vintage condition. This was found with many other WWII era items. I know these type of life-savers vests were used and tested by military during that time period. These do not have any military markings however. Kapok was less heavy and gave the ability to be more mobile than the cork ones. Also, with a little research, found that this type of vest filled with kapok was used early on in the war until kapok supply was blocked. Very nice pieces of history to display or add to collection. Preowned as is as was found. Please refer to pictures as best visual description. I’ll answer any questions to the best of my knowledge. I would consider any reasonable offer.
