This bayonet was made by Matsushita Kinzoku prior to 1942 when metal scabbards were replaced by wood or leather. As best I can discern the serial number appears to be W323510. The bayonet is about 20 inches long with a 15-3/4 inch blade. The scabbard is 16-1/4 inches long. Since its introduction in 1897 the Type 30 bayonet has seen many variations. This is a Variation D with a fullered (blood-groove) blade, a straight cross guard with a square end, a contoured riveted sandwhich grip, and a birds-head flat-sided pommel. I think that’s everything. The metal scabbard is tube-tipped. Condition is “as found” good. There is some rust but there is plenty of original blueing. The wood grip scales are tight and intact with an aged patina. It appears to be the factory blunt edge. There is no damage except for a few dents to the scabbard, as shown. These dings do not affect bayonet travel. The spring-loaded locking mechanism is fully functional and ready to mate with your vintage Arisaka rifle.

Not the issue variety. Late 1920’s to mid 1930’s droop wing dress collar device. Type worn by Marines in China. Larger than issue type by 1/8. This variation also has curved lines of latitude and longitude. Extremely difficult to find. Unmarked as to maker. Please pay upon receipt of invoice.

Rare and seldom encountered to find in any condition, this is a nice example of a LIGHTWEIGHT Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 28 5/8 inches in length which remains in nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes and a bit of flaking to the plating one either side of the tip. The Shin Gunto style hilt has a bit of fraying to the wrap on one side nevertheless remains tight and sturdy. The metal scabbard also remains in good condition with only wear near the carrying ring where it was hand handled. The original tassel is lightly faded but in nice condition nonetheless. This is a very nice example of a rare and seldom encountered Large Variation Japanese Officer’s Sword, Type 19 and would have been in service all the way up to World War II. It is mounted with an impressively large near perfect blade that measures 33 1/2 inches in length by 1 1/8 inches at the widest which remains in very nice original condition. The gilded brass hilt wears a beautifully detailed pommel and pierced work guard and the composite grip is extremely well marked on either side. The guard and composite grip have survived in very nice, tight condition with most of the bright gold finish present and the hilt’s twisted wire wrap still securely in place. The plated scabbard shows flaking from wear and has a couple of dings, neverthelss does remain in very good serviceable condition as well. Overall measuring 40 3/4 inches in length. Although its cording is tattered, the original field grade knot is present with the knot itself is still nicely intact. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Check out my other items.
