1936 WDP Oklahoma Belt Buckle WPA Armories War Department Colonel Eagle, Scarce – 1936 was the height of Oklahoma National Guard Armory Construction through the WPA Projects, there were 51 new armories constructed between 1935 – 1937, this buckle is from that project. Original, solid 10k Gold US Army Major Insignia. Engraved 1937 dedication for Field Artillery. Both are marked BB&B and 10k. Unfortunately, the color did not photograph well; yes, they are gold and look like it in person! Full size, each measuring approximately 1 1/16 high and with a combined total weight of 13.0 grams on a jeweler’s scale. Problems: Missing the separate fastening lugs. Very minor tarnish and wear. Excellent minus condition overall. These are, of course, jewelry made by Bailey Banks & Biddle and the original box is included. The box has a stain on the top and wear around the edges, good minus condition overall. One of the insignia is engraved, FROM OFFICERS 2 BN 108 FA 7-7-37. The other insignia is engraved simply, J. A few years after this time, the 108th Field Artillery, as part of the 28th Division, landed in Normandy (not on D Day) and then participated in the Battle of the Bulge. I could not find a US stamp on bag but with as much wear as it has it likely wore off or is undetectable. 14 x 20 inches with 1 inside divider. You will not find these Certificates anywhere on the Internet as they are extremely rare, especially in their good condition, and would be a great addition to someone who is specifically interested in the USS Arizona. Incredible pieces of history in this lot of 2 Original/Authentic Framed Certificates awarded to Paul J Bartko, a Navy electrician. These were issued by the US Navy in 1936 for his military service aboard the famous USS Arizona. Good Condition for how old it is, just a bit of common age to the certs pictured such as some wavyness and age. They come framed and matted.
