Rare Polish Infantry Officer’s Sabre, Sword. “Honor i Ojczyzna” wz. 21/22 with the scabbard. Extremely rare Polish Infantry Officers sword, sabre model wz. The steel blade with engraved the Polish eagle, flowers and foliage, and the motto. On the blade is stamped BOROWSKI WARSZAWA. There are no other visible markings on the blade. Brass hilt with original black lacquered leather covered wooden grip and bound with double twisted brass wire. The hilt is stamped underneath on the back and the rear of the blade with the number 4. The blade of the sabre is in very good conditions for its years with slight traces of corrosion on both sides. The hilt is in very good condition with beautiful patina, the black leather has slight signs of use and brass wire wrapping is intact. The scabbard has a few small dents and some traces of corrosion (see carefully the attached photos). The sabre and scabbard is in its original condition. Sabre measurements: Overall length: 94 cm Length of the blade: 76 cm Curvature of the blade: 1.2 cm. Width of the blade at the widest point: 2.8 cm. A very rare find! For sale is a Rare version of a Polish Cavalry Sword wz 1921 or wz. 21, rare troops/NCO version. This Saber was produced by A. Mann, Warsaw (mark on the ricasso) and is numbered 9. On the back of the blade – extremely low number, one of the first ever produced!!!! The sword fits perfectly into the scabbard. Semi-relic condition wit extensive pitting to both hilt and scabbard. Scabbard has a couple of holes as pictured. The blade appears much better, with some dark spots and looks that it was period re-sharpened. Please judge for yourself the condition from the pictures. Odd model that is not of brass fittings as per regulations but instead is iron/nickel hilted version which is mounted with a blade stamped with the AP , fasces and CM markings and these were from the Arsenal of Paris that inspected foreign made blade so big possibility this sword was for Allied heavy cavalry (Wurttemberg, Bavaria, Holland, Bade etc). Another possibility is that it was made during the end of the Empire with an iron hilt due to shortage of brass and given an old recycled blade. Whatever the reason, it has history and is super attractive! Good condition: the whole sword is in very shiny state with some spots here and there but overall very well preserved, but the handguard has some light movement. The knuckle bow is stamped with faint barred numbers and inspection marks. The scabbard also has a barred service number and a stamp at the drag; it also has that unknown rope holding the 2 rings, something which is very often encountered on period swords. Sword length: 43 / 110cm. Blade length: 37 / 95cm. Total length: 45 / 115cm. Low reserve price for such a sought after model!
