The Eibar helmet is named for the Basque city where they were manufactured. It’s officially known as the Model 1934 and is one of the harder to find helmets worn during the Spanish Civil War. The model was widely used in the Spanish Civil war by both parties. The front has an attachment for a badge, meaning it was used by the troops of general Franco. It was the first helmet made by the Arsenal of the Artillery in Trubia to be submitted in 1926 for examination for its adoption. Only 12.000 helmets were produced, made with Röchling steel 1.1 mm thick, but the type was never adopted. In comparison: the Austrian Berndorf helmet had a production of 140.000!!!! Outside the helmet has been repainted in this original colour. Inside you find the Original color as well, but overpainted with dark red for a big part. A W ONDERFUL addition to any collection!! This is an original 1930 signed by Spanish General Francisco Franco. He later became the Spanish dictator from 1939 to 1975. The document is framed with a picture of him and write in Spanish. It measures 10 by 14 inches in the frame. The document by itself measures6.5 by 9 inches. The signature on the photo is a copy, but the document is an original signature. It is in great condition. All our items come from estate sales, yard sales, flea markets or places that we have traveled. All Japanese items come directly from Japan. Czech M30 Spanish Civil War. Helmet of Franco’s Nationalists. This is a real good example of a Czech Model 1930. These were made almost exclusively for export. I know some of these went to Africa as I have seen a picture of an Ethiopian soldier in the custody of Italians and he was wearing one. The majority of them went to the Spanish Republic. This particular helmet is one that was captured by Franco’s fascist forces and used on the Nationalist side. Material shortages on both side made the re-issuing of the enemy’s equipment pretty much common practice. She’s been repainted only one time and has been re-linered. Odd thing is, is that the liner is a Spanish copy of the original Czech one. Flat Spanish rivets hold it place. It’s also got a Spanish chinstrap. The badge bracket on the front tells us proof positive that she’s been “Frankanized”. She’s coming right out of my personal collection.
