For sale is a good framed Chinese silk embroidery souvenir picture from the US Navy, dated 1924. The framed picture measures about 24 1/2 inches wide by 22 1/2 inches tall; the visible portion is 21 ½ inches by 19 1/2 inches. The picture is on fade blue silk. There is a quilted spread eagle with a glass eye across the top, and a picture of the U. PREBLE in the center with two American flags on either side. The picture and flags are outlined in silver thread. The piece reads “IN MEMORY OF MY CRUISE AROUND THE WORLD” at the very top and J. FINNEGAN / CHINA JAPAN / 1922 1924 at the bottom. The piece is in a dark wood frame, likely original, with front glass. It has a paper back and hanging wire. Condition on the picture is quite good. There is definitely some fading of the blue background, but the embroidery seems to be intact, with no moisture or insect damage. A classic Chinese embroidery! This is an original 1930 signed by Spanish General Francisco Franco. He later became the Spanish dictator from 1939 to 1975. The document is framed with a picture of him and write in Spanish.
