ORIGINAL EARLY 1920’S UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS HAITIAN GENDAMARIE TIREUR 2ÈME CLASSE BADGE, PIN-BACK W/ LOCKING CATCH. MEYER INC NEW YORK + SHIELD. Soon after the landing of the U. Marines in Hayti, in August 1915, it became apparent that the existing police and military forces of Hayti were in need of a complete reorganization. With this in view, steps were taken towards the institution of a Haytian Military Police organization which would take the place of all the existing military and police forces of the Republic. This idea met with the favor of the Haytian and the United States governments and on September 16, 1919, a Treaty was signed between the two powers which among other agreements stipulated that a Gendarmerie should be organized which should take over all the military and police activities of Hayti. The enlisted men of this organization were to be Haytians and the officers to be Americans until such a time as qualified Haytians could be found to take the places of these latter. With the exeption of the senior grades, practically all the officers were selected from the ranks of the Marine Corps. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you!

ORIGINAL LATE 1920’S INTERWAR PERIOD UNITED STATES ARMY AIR CORPS PILOT WINGS, 3 INCH FULL SIZE, PIN-BACK W/ OPEN “C” CATCH. During World War II, with the rise of the Army Air Forces, a second series of aviator badges were issued to include a design that has survived to the modern day. The Pilot Badge was issued in three degrees, including Pilot, Senior Pilot, and Command Pilot. A polished silver colored version of these badges is currently used as the United States Air Force Pilot Badges. From August 1941 to November 1942, the Enlisted Aviator program was restarted. Candidates had to be at least 18, possess a high school diploma, and have graduated at the top of their high school class. Graduates were rated as Flight Staff Sergeants or Flight Technical Sergeants and wore the same pilot’s wings as officers. They were usually assigned to pilots of transport and auxiliary aircraft to free officer pilots to pilot the more prestigious fighters and bombers. Auxiliary pilots received their own special wings to indicate their status and specialty. In November 1942 all enlisted pilots were promoted to Flight Officer rank and enlisted cadets were graded as Flight Officers or Second Lieutenants depending on merit. This is an original Imperial Japanese Enthronement Officials Badge. Issued for junior government officials (Hannin-kan) who participated in the Imperial enthronement ceremonies. Imperial Chrysanthemum Crest (symbol of the Emperor). Paulownia Crest (symbol of the Japanese government). The inscription “Enthronement Official” in blue enamel at the center. These badges were worn exclusively during the Daijo (Imperial Enthronement) ceremonies. Which marked the accession of Emperor Hirohito (Showa Emperor). Emperor Hirohito’s accession occurred immediately after the death of the previous emperor. And the early Showa enthronement ceremonies were conducted with restrained formality and limited production. Making surviving official items particularly scarce today. Reverse marked: Japan Mint / I. Official government issue, not a private or souvenir item. Badges such as this were produced in very limited numbers and issued only to authorized personnel. Shows natural age-related wear and patina consistent with an authentic pre-war item. This is a rare pre-war Imperial Japanese “Good Luck in Battle” commemorative badge. Presented by the Toyo Youth Group (Toyo Seinen-dan) to a local soldier who was leaving for the front. What the inscriptions say. “Shusse Kogun” – “Departing Imperial Soldier”. “Bu’un Chokyu Kigan” – “Prayer for Long-Lasting Good Fortune in Battle”. “Toyo Seinen-dan Kinen-zo” – “Presented by the Toyo Youth Group”. The badge features two phoenixes, a traditional symbol of protection, rebirth, and auspicious fortune. What was the Youth Group (Seinen-dan)? The Seinen-dan was a pre-war local youth organization in every village and town in Japan. They supported community events and, importantly, organized send-off ceremonies for soldiers. Members would create and present items like this badge to wish for. Long-lasting fortune in battle. And to show the community’s support. This makes the badge not only a military item but a deeply personal community artifact. 3.5 cm tall. Weight: 13.4 g. Material: silver-tone metal (possibly silver, not tested). Condition: Light aging, very good for its age. Comes with original wooden box and the maker’s paper label (rare). Here you have a very nice Spanish civil war helmet with beautiful crest. I believe this to be an M1934 Nationalist model. Interesting piece of military memorabilia in aged condition. Believe this is a large size. The leather helmet support is there and in soft pliable condition, aged yes, but not hard. Please check the pictures and ask questions.
