Rare Pre WWII USS Pennsylvania BB-38 Battleship sailers wool crackerjack Donald Duck Flat Hat Navy Cap Pre-1933. Excellent vintage condition nearly antique wool sailers cap with USS PENNSYLVANIA in gilt wire across the sweat band. Own a piece of history from the heyday of the Old grey Lady when she was the flagship of the US Naval Fleet. Very good condition wool in great shape leather sweat band in great shape with a date stamp picture included. A few loose stitches. Gilt/gold wire is tarnished but in very good condition. Name stenciled in side M. Hat is creased from storage Ive had it on the head mold for a week or so to help but likely stored for a long time. The Pennsylvania-class consisted of two super-dreadnought battleships built for the United States Navy just before the First World War. The ships were named Pennsylvania and Arizona, after the American states of the same names. They constituted the United States’ second battleship design to adhere to the “all or nothing” armor scheme, and were the newest American capital ships when the United States entered the First World War. During the 1920s and 1930s, Pennsylvania served as the flagship of first the Atlantic Fleet, and after it was merged with the Pacific Fleet in 1921, the Battle Fleet. Pennsylvania was occupied with a peacetime routine of training exercises (including the annual Fleet problems), port visits, and foreign cruises, including a visit to Australia in 1925. She suffered relatively minor damage in the attack, being protected from torpedoes by the drydock. Pennsylvania joined the fleet in a series of amphibious operations, primarily tasked with providing gunfire support. The first of these, the Aleutian Islands Campaign, took place in mid-1943, and was followed by an attack on Makin later that year. During 1944, she supported the landings on Kwajalein and Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands and the Mariana and Palau Islands campaign, including the Battles of Saipan, Guam, Peleliu, and Battle of Angaur. During the Battle of Okinawa, she was torpedoed by a Japanese torpedo bomber and badly damaged, forcing her to withdraw for repairs days before the end of the war. Allocated to the target fleet for the Operation Crossroads nuclear tests in 1946, Pennsylvania was repaired only enough to allow her to make the voyage to the test site, Bikini Atoll. She survived both blasts, but was badly contaminated with radioactive fallout from the second test, and so was towed to Kwajalein, where she was studied for the next year and a half. Vintage US Navy Uniform from the USS Oklahoma. Believe from the WWI era. The USS Oklahoma was sunk at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. This sailor ultimately rose to the rank of Captain. Includes the Jumper, Pants and Beret. Very good condition, there are some holes/tears that have been repaired. Couple of small white spots on the back of the jumper. A great filler piece for one of the rarest U. Medals, only around 99 are known to have been issued. UNITED STATES NAVY WEST INDIES CAMPAIGN SPECIALLY MERITORIOUS SERVICE CROSS MEDAL. RIBBON DRAPE TESTED UV NEGATIVE AS SHOWN. Type IV (1937): This was the type III badge rotated approximently 30 degrees. The eagle suspension was replaced with a large (37 mm x 30 1/2 mm) Air Corps devise. The reverse was marked “Pilgrim Badge/Boston” on the reverse. This version resulted from the order’s involvement with lobbying Congress for an expanded Air Corps and attract aviators to its ranks. Unable to obtain Congressional approval to wear this badge on the uniform, it was revoked and the order reverted to the Type III version. The Army & Navy Union formed without restriction to service within a particular War i. The Civil War, The Indian Wars, etc. The founders realized that those organizations would swell in membership, but over time their ranks would dwindle and then cease to exist. So, they did not make service in a particular action a criterion for membership. In 1886 it became a National Organization which was permanent for all veterans. Their charge was to Promote loyalty to the country, assemble comrades in order to perpetuate a spirit of fraternity, present social affairs, and befriend ex-servicemen and woman who might need help in securing employment, in caring for the sick, and in burying their dead. The Nicaraguan Campaign Medal is a campaign medal of the United States Navy which was authorized by Presidential Order of Woodrow Wilson on September 22, 1913. A later medal, the Second Nicaraguan Campaign Medal was authorized by an act of the United States Congress on November 8, 1929. The two medals were considered two separate awards, with the original medal being commonly referred to as the First Nicaraguan Campaign Medal. The First Nicaraguan Campaign Medal was created to recognize those U. Navy personnel and U. Marines who had participated in amphibious actions in Nicaragua between 29 July and 14 November 1912. The following naval commands, and all embarked U. Marines, were eligible for the First Nicaraguan Campaign Medal. USS California (armored cruiser). USS Cleveland (protected cruiser). USS Colorado (armored cruiser). USS Denver (protected cruiser). USS Maryland (armored cruiser). USS Tacoma (protected cruiser). The medal for the First Nicaraguan Campaign Medal displayed a volcano, rising from a lake, with the words Nicaraguan Campaign and the date 1912 on the edges of the medal. The medal itself was suspended from a red ribbon with two thick blue stripes. On the reverse of each medal was a Navy or Marine Corps crest, depending on the recipient’s branch of service. It was rarely photographed during the short period of peace this helmet has known. After the defeat of the French army in 1940 and the signing of the Armistice in June, this model remained in in the navy buildings assigned to both sides. One side residual forces of the Government of Marshall Pétain, the other side being the troops of the’free French’, alongside the allies. Thus, this helmet model 39 remained in staffing throughout the second world war, and its production is resumed in the aftermath of the war for the needs of the Navy in the far East. It would seem that the 39 Navy model was only manufactured by Dunois Vincennes. Dieser seltene französische Helm erschien 1939.
