The cross is marked 0.925 on the pin back. There is no visible maker mark but i believe it conforms to the ones made by Swiss maker Hugernin Freres & co. Which I’ve notice many are not maker marked. This is an original full size medal, not a reproduction. This medal was instituted in 1925, and awarded for 12 years cumulative service with the Shanghai Volunteer Corps. 1920S-1930S UNITED STATES ARMY CIVIL WAR CAMPAIGN MEDAL, W/ WRAP BROOCH. ASSEMBLED BY GEORGE W. STUDLEY – STRUCK BY DAVIDSON OF PHILADELPHIA. RIBBON DRAPE TESTED UV NEGATIVE AS SHOWN. The Civil War Campaign Medal is considered the first campaign service medal of the United States Armed Forces. The decoration was awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces and the Confederate States Armed Forces who had served in the American Civil War between 1861 and 1865. The medal was first authorized in 1905 for the fortieth anniversary of the Civil War’s conclusion. The blue and gray ribbon denotes the respective uniform colors of the U. The Army Civil War Campaign Medal was established by the United States War Department on January 21, 1907, by General Orders Number 12. To qualify, a soldier had to serve between April 15, 1861, and April 9, 1865. The award was intended for both federal and volunteer soldiers. When it was discovered that medal qualifications included the words Active Federal Military Service, the Congressional Act of 1945 had those words removed. The Certificate of Merit Medal was a military decoration of the United States Army that was issued between the years of 1905 and 1918. The Certificate of Merit Medal replaced the much older Certificate of Merit which was authorized by the United States Congress on March 3, 1847. The system of military awards and decorations presented to members of the United States Military can trace its lineage to the Badge of Military Merit. This military award, established by George Washington, was given in recognition of soldiers who displayed unusual gallantry or extraordinary fidelity. Awarded three times during the Revolutionary War, the Badge of Military Merit was not awarded again. Thus, for more than 50 years the United States Military had no official military decorations. HERE IS A SUPER RARE NUMBERED M. NO 1069, US MARINE CORP ORIGINAL ISSUED YANGTZE SERVICE MEDAL. There where very few of these awarded to Marines. It has the old clasp and ribbon and did not glow. Medal is in good shape for almost a 100 years old. Please look over and ask questions as we know this is a rare and valuable piece for any collector to have. The other medal is a veterans medal. Some folks just don’t appreciate history and preserving it for us collectors. With what little research I could do, all I could find was one m. 1052 was issued to a marine corp Colonel on who served on the USS HENDERSON AIRCRAFT SQUADRON in 1927. But some more digging should come up with the Marines name. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. You will find several Navy issued ones but Marine corp ones are super rare.
