Excellent condition and guaranteed original pre WWII Japanese army Type 32 sword that is the Otsu model with a 30 ½ blade. Issued to all NCOs and men in the Military police and transportation corps, and all master sergeants in the infantry, engineers, and artillery. Sword is complete with matching numbered scabbard. Has the Tokyo Arsenal marking on the blade and dated Taisho 15 for 1925. Blade has beautiful original bright finish and still has original leather washer at the base. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing light wear. The finger loop has been removed. Wooden grip has original finish and no damage. Scabbard latch functions fine. Matching numbered steel scabbard has nice original blue metal finish showing light wear and a few dents. A really nice Type 32 sword with matching numbers! This is a very nice example of a Japanese Officer’s Sword Knot which was used with the Japanese Kyu Gunto Mounted Sword and is complete with a beautiful gold woven thread slider. It is constructed with a black woven linen strap, a large solid black knot along with the woven thread slider. It has survived in very nice original condition. This is a very nice example of a Japanese D-Guard Army Officer’s Kyu Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a well made grooved, machine made blade that measures 26 5/8 inches in length. The blade remains in very nice original condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The fabulous large D-guard is beautifully detailed and although has one very small stress crack to one edge, does remain tight and sturdy as well as is wonderfully enhanced with a silver family mon on the backstrap. The pretty white rayskin covered hilt remains very healthy and continues to wear its original twisted wire wrap securely in place. WW2 Photo Album China 1937 Japanese Army Occupation Nanking Nanjing Zaozhuang Xuzhou with 384 Photographs Album has descriptions in Japanese on the pages or under the photographs. Some of the cities and counties include Hanzhuang, Jining, Yi, Yixian, Zaozhuang, Xuzhou, Shandong, Jiangsu, Weishan Lake, Han Village, and others. We have seen quite a few Photo Albums that centered around China including many from US servicemen who served in Country. Some were in the 1920s or before and others focusing on just after WW2 US occupation. This album is different in its content and scope because of all the rare locations and subject matter covered. Normally, most Japanese soldier’s photo albums have no Chinese content and if they do is just a small amount of content. What makes the album rare is that all the photos are from towns and cities in China rarely seen. One series of photos shows Japanese soldiers repairing a hotel to be used for comfort women. They hang up a new wooden sign, Hotel Pyeongyang House over “Maohe Hotel” sign. Now to be used as comfort station. What follow is a few pages of photos of comfort women with some obviously Korean and Chinese, and some may be even Japanese. Another series of photos depicts Japanese soldiers and Chinese installing telephone poles. Some of the photographs including marriage ceremony, funerals, soldiers caravans, railroad stations, bridges, war damage, trains, drinking, fishing, farming, weapons, Pagodas, monuments, Shrines, tractors, etc. Surprisingly no gore or death scenes with just a few prisoners and punishment scenes. Without knowing the history of Japan occupation of China, one viewing this album might conclude peace and harmony between Japanese soldiers and Chinese during the war. Photo Album covers 1937 to 1938 with 384 photographs. More than 95% of the photographs are taken in Japan occupied China. Photographs range in size with most photographs smaller 2.5 by 2.25 inches. Most all of the photographs are well shot with sharp fine detail. Album measures about 14 by 11 inches. Please see images below for best description. This is a nice example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a hand-forged blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 26 3/4 inches in length. The blade remains healthy with some minor surface blemishes and a few tiny nicks to the cutting edge, nevertheless is in nice condition and boasts a lovely large straight temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The well signed tang wears two characters which translate to ” MASAYASU “. The hilt and all the fittings remain nice. The green lacquered scabbard remains nice as well with just some minor scuffs. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Company Grade Kyu Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a substantially large machine made blade that measures 32 3/4 inches in length by 1 1/8 inches at the widest. The blade remains in wonderful condition with only some minor surface scratches. The brass guard remains tight and features a lovely silver family mon on the backstrap. The carved horn hilt also remains tight and very healthy in its condition. The nickel plated scabbard has a small amount of flaking near the drag as well as one small ding nevertheless remains in very good serviceable condition as well. This is a very nice example of a seldom encountered Japanese Flag Pole Guidon Standard that dates from the World War II Era. It is all metal constructed and comes in two sections that screw together for additional length. The lovely brass finial is nicely detailed with three cherry blossoms and the black lacquered finished posts are in a ribbed motif. All remains in very nice original condition with only one of the small flag rings now missing which could be easily replaced. At the base there is an original maker’s tag still present.
