This is a rare example of a Japanese / Chosen (Korea) Hannin Level Official’s Sword that would have been carried by Japanese Officials assigned to the occupation Government. It is mounted with a machine made blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 25 3/4 inches in length and remains in nice condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The plain guard has also survived well and frames a beautiful white samé covered hilt with its original twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The wooden scabbard remains very nice however shows to have been leather recovered at one time, however continues to wear all of its nicely coordinating brass fittings.
