During the WWII, these type of helmets were part of the standard outfit of the German. They were worn by the flying personnel, fighter pilots and bomber flyers. The helmet is made of qualitative brown natural leather with cover inside. It has metal buttons, which are marked’Prym. Shows very little use, most wear can be seen at the top of the cap. Great condition for its age. Very faint lettering visible on chin strap must have been the crewmans name. I have no clue what time period and im speculating its military. Looks as though it pinned on (on pin is broken). I see no makers marks but there are the initials mc lighty scrached in the brass plate on one side of the handle. It has some material loosen spots and the red sash has a few small holes, but overall it is still in great condition. The American Red Cross Motor Corps formed in 1917 to support the war effort and again during the Great Flu Pandemic of 1918.
